I created this painting as an assignment in my first oil painting class. I wish I had taken notes or written on the back of the canvas who the artist was so I could post the original as a comparison here.

Feathers

The goal of the assignment was to find a painting we liked and change at least one thing about it. When I saw this image in a book, it instantly stood out to me. It was originally a square, and originally pretty small. Mine, as you can see is a rectangle, but the scale is much different than the original too. My version is two feet by four feet, quite large considering the original was something like 16 inches square.

At the time, this was one of the few assignments I actually enjoyed, and I remember people being impressed at the resemblance to the original. GAH! I wish I could show the original here. Off to do, more Google searching and see if I can dig it up.
